Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - For whatever reason, the local players fare best against the JetHawks. Facing Antelope Valley College in the final exhibition game in the string of games against local schools, the JetHawks got their biggest scare. Lancaster scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to come from behind and beat the Marauders 9-4.

AVC took a 3-1 lead in the third inning, stringing together four consecutive hits. A Christian Lara home run in the opening frame had put the JetHawks on top.

Lancaster caught the Marauders in the bottom of the third, only to have AVC take the lead back in the fifth. But pitching failed Antelope Valley. The JetHawks got doubles from Lars Anderson and Jon Still, followed by a three-run homer from Chih-Hsien Chung. Zak Farkes and Dennis Blackmon then recorded hits before four consecutive walks. JetHawks manager Chad Epperson elected to simply end the inning rather than stress the Marauder pitching staff.

Anderson had three hits for Lancaster, including a pair of doubles. Still had two hits while Argenis Diaz walked three times.

Chris Jones cruised through the first two innings before allowing the three in the third. Jones struck out five. Tony Bajoczky, slated to be the JetHawks fifth starter, hurled the final four innings, allowing just an unearned run while fanning six.

The JetHawks open the 2008 regular season on April 3 at High Desert before returning to Clear Channel Stadium for the home opener on April 10 against the Lake Elsinore Storm. Tremendous ticket packages starting at only $56 are available for purchase now by calling 661.726.5400.
