Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks took their home cooking on the road with them. Lancaster's offense hit four home runs, and the bullpen came up with timely pitching as the JetHawks defeated the High Desert Mavericks Monday night in Adelanto. The JetHawks match their longest win streak of the year with five straight and are six games better than .500 for the first time this season with a record of 35-29. Inland Empire won their game at Bakersfield, keeping Lancaster in a tie with the 66ers with just six games left in the opening half.
The JetHawks never trailed in the game, although they also never had a comfortable lead. Lancaster led 3-0 in the second inning on a solo homer by Scott White and a two-run blast from Bubba Bell. High Desert immediately got two runs of their own to tie the game.
Lancaster's prolific offense scored runs in six of their nine turns at the plate. Aaron Bates hit a solo home run in the fourth inning and Luis Soto hit a two-run homer in the fifth to put Lancaster up 7-3.
The Mavericks closed to within one run, chasing out JetHawks starter Mike Rozier in the fifth inning. However, Kevin Guyette hurled three innings while allowing just one run to get the win and Chad Rhoades pitched a scoreless inning and two-thirds for the save.
Soto led the JetHawks with three hits, a home run and two doubles as well as three RBI. White, Tony Granadillo, Zach Daeges, and Christian Lara each had two hits, with Mark Wagner driving in two runs in the win.
The JetHawks continue a seven-game road trip Tuesday night at High Desert. Justin Masterson (3-5, 5.55) pitches for the JetHawks. The Mavericks counter with pitcher Jose Escalona (2-3, 3.88). The game starts at 7:05 PM and will be broadcast on radio at Magic 1340 AM, as well as on internet at www.JetHawks.com. The pre-game show begins at 6:50.
