LANCASTER, Calif. - Lancaster scored a run in the seventh inning to take the lead and hung on to beat Lake Elsinore, 3-2, Sunday evening at The Hangar. The bullpen threw three scoreless innings to lock down the victory.
The game was tied, 2-2, going into the bottom of the seventh. Lancaster (14-11, 47-48) loaded the bases with nobody out, and Brian Serven brought home the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.
The bullpen made the lead stand up. Brian Baker (3-1) pitched a scoreless seventh inning to earn the win. Justin Lawrence and Reid Humphreys followed with shutout innings. Humphreys picked up his league-leading 20th save of the season.
The teams traded runs early. Lake Elsinore (10-15, 44-51) scored the game's first run on a Hudson Potts double in the opening inning. The JetHawks answered back with a Colton Welker sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame.
Vince Fernandez, who scored the go-ahead run in the seventh, led off the second inning with a home run to put Lancaster up one. The Storm would tie it in the fourth on a Hudson Potts blast.
