Jersey Rockhoppers Fight Against Cancer

West Orange, NJ -- The Jersey Rockhoppers Hockey Team (Eastern Professional Hockey League) and the American Cancer Society, Metro New Jersey Regional Office, announced today that they are teaming up in the fight against cancer.

On Friday January 9th, when the Rockhoppers battle the Hudson Valley Bears, they will also be battling against cancer. EPHL Vice President, Sales & Marketing Herm Sorcher, announced that on January 9th, the Rockhoppers will hit the ice in pink jerseys to raise cancer awareness and to show their support for local patients and their families. That evening the pink jerseys will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the American Cancer Society. A portion of the ticket proceeds will also benefit the fight against cancer.

Michele Petrino, Manager of Special Events at the American Cancer Society, said, "Through this event, that is guaranteed to be an enjoyable night for all, the Rockhoppers, along with their fans, can show their support in the fight against cancer. The Rockhoppers have joined a national network of Coaches vs. Cancer teams working together to raise awareness and help the American Cancer Society serve more patients and fund research."

Herm Sorcher added, "Cancer touches us all in some way. We are proud to support the important work of our local American Cancer Society."
