
Jermaine Blackburn named CBA Player of the Week

ALBANY, NY (December 22, 2008) - The Continental Basketball Association today announced that Jermaine Blackburn of the East Kentucky Miners was named the first "CBA Player of the Week" of the 2008-09 season. Blackburn averaged 20.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game for the 6-0 Miners as they play the first section of their schedule against assorted ABA teams in the CBA-ABA Interleague Challenge.
Blackburn earned the CBA's first quadruple-double ever in the East Kentucky Miners' 154-111 victory over the American Basketball Association's West Virginia Wild on December 20. In the victory, Blackburn scored 22 points, had 14 assists, stole the ball 10 times and had 10 rebounds. This is the first quadruple-double in Continental Basketball Association history, and only the second quadruple-double involving an ABA opponent.
Blackburn followed this unprecedented performance one night later with a triple double against the same Wild team. Blackburn had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 13 assists in only 31 minutes of play to wrap up the 2008-09 inaugural "CBA Player of the Week" award.
