Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA (August 13, 2014) - The Arena Football League announced the defensive players named to the 2014 All-Arena team. Philadelphia Soul DE Teddy Jennings (6'6, 260, Connecticut) was named to the First Team All-Arena and DB Rayshaun Kizer (5'10, 190, Walsh) was named to the Second Team All-Arena squad.
"Teddy and Rayshaun are both well deserving of these honors," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "Both were key pieces to our defense and should help keep them motivated to continue their success for the betterment of the team next season."
The Riddell Defensive Player, Lineman of the Year and Rookie of the Year candidate, Jennings has played a crucial role for the defense this year, even as a rookie. He ranks No. 4 in the league in sacks with 11.0, which also ties the franchise record for most sacks in a season (Bryan Robinson in 2013). He has also recorded 26.0 total tackles, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, a blocked kick and a safety.
DB Rayshaun Kizer has been a force in the backfield ranking No. 4 in the League in total tackles with 101.0 (94 of which were solo) and No. 8 in the league in interceptions with 9. Kizer has also set a career high this season with 35 pass break-ups. In the Soul's playoff game this season against Cleveland, Kizer set the AFL's single-game postseason record with four interceptions.
Jennings is joined on the First Team All-Arena defense by Spokane DL James Ruffin; San Jose NG Jason Stewart; Los Angles MLB Beau Bell; Orlando JLB Tanner Varner; Arizona DB Marquis Floyd; Portland DB Varmah Sonie; Cleveland DB Marrio Norman; and Spokane KR Terrance Sanders.
Joining Kizer on the Second Team All-Arena Defense is: Iowa DE Mike Lewis; Arizona DE Cliff Dukes; Cleveland NG Willie McGinest; San Jose MLB Francis Maka; Portland JLB Bryce Peila; New Orleans DB Cameron McGlenn; San Antonio DB Kelvin Rodgers; and New Orleans KR Larry Beavers. The AFL will announce the offensive players who earned an All-Arena honor Thursday.
