
Jason Catchings Returns to Force

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Force have announced the return of veteran linebacker Jason Catchings for the 2017 season. Catchings solidified himself as one of the top defensive players in the CIF last season. With 98 total tackles, Catchings anchored a Force defense that finished 4th in scoring defense, allowing 43 points per game, and was almost impossible to run against allowing just 63 rushing yards per game, tops in the CIF. Catchings was a menace to opposing quarterbacks finishing the year with 3.5 sacks and picking off 4 passes, including a crucial interception against Amarillo late in the fourth quarter to seal a Force victory on the road against the Venom in week 11.
Catchings is entering his third season with the Force. In 2015, Catchings again led the Force in tackles with 91, adding 14 tackles for loss, and 5 sacks earning him All - CIF Second Team honors. Over the past two season, Catchings has also blocked 8 kicks for the Force.
Spending two years each with at the Copiah-Lincoln Community College and East Central University, Catching earn a spot in training camp with the New York Jets in 2013. In 2014, Catchings made him professional debut with the former Wichita Wild where he ranked third in the CPIFL with 88 total tackles, first with 18.5 tackles for loss and recorded six sacks and one forced fumble. In that same season, he earned All-CPIFL Second Team Defense honors.
