Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA, FL - Newly acquired receiver Mike Washington and 13-year veteran T.T. Toliver added a lot of new excitement to Tampa Bay Sunday, but it was Jacksonville quarterback Tommy Grady who carved out four touchdowns as the visiting Sharks (2-3, 2-1) to defeated the Storm, 33-27.
The Arena Football League game before an afternoon crowd of 8,438 in Amalie Arena saw the Storm take a 27-26 lead on a sensation 27-yard catch by the 39-year-old Toliver from rookie quarterback Jonathan Bane, getting his first start of the season.
The 6-year AFL pro Grady on the ensuing drive connected with former Storm (0-4, 0-2) receiver Prechae Rodriguez with 4:35 remaining to push Sharks lead to 33-27.
Bane was outstanding in throwing for three scores, on 21-38 passes and had no interceptions. He collected 281 yard, 148 of those, on nine catches to Toliver, who had two touchdowns.
Washington, acquired last week from Arizona, electrified the crowd with an opening-game kick-off of 58 yards for a touchdown. The 5-foot-8 speedster scampered straight up and then cut to the outside right and outran the Sharks.
