
Jacksonville BlueWaves Get Past Gwinnett Majic, 109-105

The Jacksonville BlueWaves (4-0) remained the only unbeaten team in the World Basketball Association Exposure League (WBA) by edging the Gwinnett Majic, 109-105, Saturday night at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ga.
The game was close at the end of each of the first three periods, with Jacksonville leading 25-18 after one quarter before the Majic (2-2) came back to take a 55-54 lead heading into halftime. Each team put up 22 points in the third frame to send the game into the fourth period with Gwinnett holding a slim 77-76 advantage. The BlueWaves were able to outscore Gwinnett 33-27 in the final 12 minutes to pull out the road win.
Mike Sturns led Jacksonville with 30 points, four rebounds and three steals. Also hitting double figures for the BlueWaves were Antonio Lawrence (27 points), Renaldo Norman (15 points, eight rebounds), Rashad Brown (13 points, six rebounds, three blocks) and Ed Horton (10 points, six rebounds, four assists).
Gwinnett, the defending league champions which have now lost two straight games, was paced by B.J. Puckett's 26 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks, two steals and two assists. Javon Randolph had 24 points, four points, four assists and three steals, Adrian Borders netted 21 with six assists and three steals, Albert Jackson finished with a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and Patrick Shokpeka chipped in 10 in the loss.
Gwinnett is off until June 3, when the Majic host the Marietta Storm at Dacula High School. Jacksonville is back in action June 5, hosting the Tupelo Rock & Rollers. Both games are set to tip off at 7 p.m. The WBA Exposure League serves as a training ground to develop players on and off the court. Emphasis is placed on exposure, development, community involvement, and most importantly providing an exciting brand of basketball and entertainment.
