Traverse City North Stars News Release
WYANDOTTE - The Traverse City North Stars rolled to an early lead, but could not endure a late Motor City rally, falling to the fourth- place Metal Jackets by a 3-2 count at Yack Arena in suburban Detroit.
Traverse City got goals from Dan Radke (Orinda, CA/TC North Stars/ Lake Superior St.) and Doug Clifford (Woodhaven, MI/Mahoning Valley NAHL) less than a minute apart late in the first period, taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, while the host Metal Jackets found their offensive groove in the final five minutes of the contest, scoring the tying goal at 14:39 before netting the game-winner with 2:34 to play.
The North Stars fell to 26-13-4, and failed to put some more distance between themselves and the idle Marquette Rangers, whom the Stars lead by four points in the NAHL North Division.
Kyle Jean (Sault Ste. Marie, MI/TC North Stars/Lake Superior St.) set up Radke's goal - his 13th of the season, while Garrett Thompson (Traverse City, MI/TC North Stars) and Trevor Campbell (Kansas City, MO/Lansing Capitals U18) assisted on Clifford's 17th. Chris Paliafito (Shelbyville, KY/Owatonna NAHL) lost in regulation for the first time since Jan. 2, stopping 22 of 25 shots.
TC will close out its downriver duet against Motor City (18-17-6) at Yack Arena on Saturday evening before returning to Centre ICE for a Feb. 20-21 series with Janesville.
