Penn FC News Release
HARRISBURG,PA - The Harrisburg City Islanders finished up their five game homestand with a 3-2 record and look to continue that success on the road as the take on the Wilmington Hammerheads on July 6 at Legion Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
The Islanders kicked off the elongated homestand against the Hammerheads, in what seemed like ages ago, with a 2-0 win. The game was tough and dominated by defensive play, some play better than others with the Hammerheads giving up the first goal on an own goal.
Coady Andrews was able to pick up a late goal in the game to get the Islanders off on the right foot to start a five game stretch that kept the Islanders firmly in second place. The Islanders still sit in second place, only one point behind Orland City for first place in the league. A win in Wilmington will put the Isles on the top of the table for the first time all year.
Wilmington currently sits in tenth place in the league with 17 points but have not been defeated since their trip to City Island a month ago. This successful run has included two wins over the New York Red Bulls reserve team and two draws.
The Hammerheads have been playing close matches and the match at Legion Stadium should prove to be no different. Wilmington have been a strong team at home (4-2-1), only giving up five goals all year.
The Islanders will need a big game from their fast-paced attack. Sainey Touray, the Islanders leading scorer, has had one of the best years for an Islander in history. Touray has a total of 24 points just over halfway through the season netting nine goals and helping the team with five assists. He is being helped also by a potent scoring attack with Lucky Mkosana, Jimmy McLaughlin and Yann Ekra playing pivotal parts in the season.
Road games haven't been to tough on the Islanders this season as they have only lost one game away from Skyline Sports Complex this season. Five of the Islanders ten wins have come on foreign soil. They have also scored 11 goals on the road this season.
The Islanders will return home July 10 to face the Los Angeles Blues at 7 p.m. For tickets and information on the Harrisburg City Islanders please visit www.cityislanders.com or call (717)-441-GOAL.
