CIA Team Weekend Update

The CIA boys teams finished their tournament matches at the Central Jersey Invitational this past weekend at Fort Dix, New Jersey. The Academy teams found championship successes and proved to be a competitive force in the tournament spotlight!

The U15 boys claimed the championship after blanking the DSA Deptford Lightning 3-0 in the final. The team climbed through tournament play and powered through the semifinals to gain the win and notch the coveted first-place result. In addition, the U10 boys played a close game against the Real New Jersey Real Aresenal but eventually climbed to a 2-1 lead to take home the championship crown. Likewise, the U11 boys squad forced their way into the final and conquered the United Soccer Academy Rovers 1-0 to also gain the championship title. The U12 boys team battled to a 1-1 draw in their final before falling to Garfield SC 97-98 in a nail-biting shootout at the end. Also, the U13 team faced some tough opposition and didn't qualify for playoff competition; the U9 boys team dropped two games before coming back with a win and claiming third place.

The U17 Super-Y League CIA team also gained success this past week. The squad recently clinched a spot in the Super-Y National tournament Soccerfest in November even with three regular-season games to play; then, with a convincing 3-0 victory over the second-place Real Maryland team in their conference division, the U17 boys captured the division title and furthered their impressive run to an 8-0 record.

The Harrisburg City Islanders are proud to continue the tradition of bringing high levels of competition and dedicated teams to tournament play. Congratulations to all the soccer players that make the CIA teams a success!
