Islanders Prepare for Silverbacks

BayamÃ"n, Puerto Rico (May 15, 2012) - Standing leaders since season start, Puerto Rico Islanders continue their home stretch when they receive the Atlanta Silverbacks this Wednesday at the BayamÃ"n Soccer Complex. The Islanders returned home last Saturday, when they beat the Fort Lauderdale Strikers 2-0. The game is free to the public and transportation between the Juan RamÃ"n Loubriel and the BayamÃ"n Soccer Complex is also complimentary.

About the Silverbacks

Even though they have the lead goal scorer of the league, Reinaldo Navia (5), the Silverbacks are still winless this season. They visit the Islanders after losing their last two games, falling 0-2 against the Minnesota Stars FC at NCS Stadium on May 5th. They lost their home game to FC Edmonton by the same score last Saturday.

About the Islanders

Starting with last Saturday's win, the Islanders are on a stretch where they will play six games in 13 days, which include CFU as well as NASL action. The Islanders and are currently in first place with 13 points. Puerto Rico Islanders' forward David Foley is one of the top 5 scorers of the league with 4, after scoring one of last game's two goals. Jonathan Faña is currently second in assists with 3, while Richard Martin looks for his fifth clean sheet of the season.

The Islanders travel to Wake Med Stadium next Saturday to square off against the Carolina RailHawks before traveling to the Cayman Islands to defend their CFU Championship. Puerto Rico will be playing with in the competition, which will be held in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands from May 21 st to the 25th. The current two-time CFU Champions will play in the same group as George Town, from the host country, Baltimore from Haiti and Caledonia AIA from Trinidad & Tobago.
