Islanders Look for Three in a Row

The Puerto Rico Islanders return home to look for their third win in a row, to face FC Edmonton this Wednesday at Bayamon Soccer Complex. Admission to this game as well as the game on Saturday, April 21, is free to the public. We would like to remind everyone that transportation will be given from the Juan Ramon Loubriel to Bayamon Soccer complex before the game. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

" It was a good road win, we went into a difficult place to play and came up with three points. Now we focus on FC Edmonton, even though they don't have any points, they have played better that that . They have a great coach and should be a dangerous opponent," said Head Coach Adrian Whitbread

About FC Edmonton

FC Edmonton started the season with two road losses. They fell 1-0 against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, with a 60th min goal from ex Costa Rica International Andy Herron. Last Saturday, playing in the Tampa Bay Rowdies home opener the "Eddies" feel again 1-0 this time it was Takuya Yamada gave the home team the 1-0 victory.

The Islanders are coming off a strong two games. The Islanders beat the Rowdies a man down, with a lethal strike from Nicholas Addlery in the 68th min, in Puerto Rico's home opener. Last Sunday, the Islanders traveled to San Antonio and beat the Scorpions in their first ever home match, 4-0 securing first place in the NASL. Johnathan Fana tallied two goals, while Addlery and

Foley scored a goal apiece.

Two Islanders Players Honored

Two Islanders players were honored by the North American Soccer league after their strong performance this weekend. Johnathan Fana was named offensive player of the week after his two goal performance against the Scorpions. Goalkeeper Richard Martin Islanders was named the North American Soccer League ( NASL) Defensive Player of the Week after posting his second consecutive clean sheet against the San Antonio Scorpions and making a spectacular save on the Scorpions penalty kick.
