Penn FC News Release

Harrisburg, PA, December 17, 2014 - The Harrisburg City Islanders are thrilled to announce a professional team tryout scheduled for January 14 and 15. The tryout is open to all experienced soccer players who compete collegiately, professionally, or internationally.

The tryout will take place at "In the Net Sports Complex" in Palmyra, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, January 14 from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. as well as Thursday, January 15 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. All tryout participants should plan to arrive early on both days for registration.

The City Islanders are coming off of a successful 2014 campaign where they finished as finalists in the 2014 USL PRO Championship, losing to Sacramento Republic FC (2-0). With a record of 14-12-7 and competing with one of the youngest teams in the league, with an average age of 22 years old, the City Islanders entered the 2014 USL PRO playoffs as a number 8 seed. They then went on to defeat regular season champions, Orlando City in the quarter-finals of the USL PRO playoffs and moved on to defeat number four seed, Richmond Kickers, to move on to the championship match in Sacramento.

The Islanders' current goal is to scout players, and those who stand out will be selected to participate in a trial with the pro team and possibly offered professional contracts.

Interested players can apply and REGISTER ONLINE HERE. The tryout is limited to 80 participants; therefore, all interested applicants are urged to apply no later than Friday, January 2. There is a registration fee of $125 for all applicants that register by November 18. Late applicants will only be reviewed upon availability. Late registration fee will be of $150.

"Open tryouts have been a great way for us to find players. We have had many guys through the years not only make our team, but be major contributors including Yann Ekra, Morgan Langley, Danny DiPrima from last years team." Islanders Head Coach, Bill Becher said.

All student-athletes must confirm eligibility to participate with their respective college, university, or the NCAA.

The City Islanders professional tryout delivers elite competition and many in the history of the franchise have reached Major League Soccer status. Since 2009, the City Islanders have sent an average of two players per season into the MLS.

If you or someone you know is interested in trying out or has any questions, please contact our office at 717-441-GOAL (4625) or visit our website.
