New Jersey Ironmen News Release

Newark, N.J. (Tuesday, June 10, 2008) - The New Jersey Ironmen staff hopes to mirror the team they represent this Thursday when they compete in the First Annual Mayor's Cup in Jersey City. All of the proceeds raised in the indoor soccer tournament will be given to the Jerramiah T. Healy Charitable Foundation.

"This event is for a very good cause, and it should be a lot of fun as well," Ironmen General Manager Tony Novo stated. "I just hope our staff brings their best game so we can take the cup home to Prudential Center."

Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy will officially kick off the tournament on Thursday night at 9:00 p.m. The tournament will take place at the Golden Door Charter School, located at 180 9th Street in Jersey City. Eight co-ed teams from around New Jersey will participate in the single-elimination tournament. The Ironmen staff is slated for an opening round match-up with the Jersey City Hall. Also on hand to man the bench for the Ironmen staff will be goalkeeper Tony Meola, midfielder Goran Vasic and forward Nebo Stamenkovic.

Spectators are welcome at the event with a $10 donation at the door.

The Jerramiah T. Healy Charitable Foundation for A Better Jersey City is an independent, non-profit organization committed to providing aid and assistance for Jersey City families, individuals and organizations of limited financial means. They have a mission to foster community outreach and encourage the advancement of the Jersey City community through board approved funding for victims of fire, crime and catastrophic incidence.

The New Jersey Ironmen are currently finalizing preparations for their summer camp programs. Camps will be conducted by the Ironmen coaching staff and players, offering participants the rare experience of learning directly from the pros. All players will receive a t-shirt and a ticket to the 2008-09 New Jersey Ironmen home opener at Prudential Center this fall.
