New Jersey Ironmen News Release

Newark, N.J. (Thursday, May 15, 2008) - The New Jersey Ironmen continue to remain visual in the local New Jersey community. The team increased their visibility this past week in support of the local Newark Police Department in their annual Police Week Expo. "The men and women of the police force put themselves at risk everyday for the benefit of their respective communities," Ironmen General Manager Tony Novo commented. "It is without question that we will always try to support them and the events that they conduct."

Some of the divisions that had exhibits on display were the Crime Scene Unit, Bomb Disposal Unit and Crime Stoppers. The expo was also used as an opportunity to promote D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training) and Neighborhood Blockwatch Information. Recruitment drives were also conducted for the Citizen Awareness Academy and the Police Explorers youth program.

The event was stationed at Washington Park, and it was also used to promote the upcoming "National Night Out" that the Newark Police will be hosting at Westside Park on Tuesday, August 5.

The New Jersey Ironmen are currently finalizing preparations for their summer camp programs. Camps will be conducted by the Ironmen coaching staff and players, offering participants the rare experience of learning directly from the pros. All players will receive a t-shirt and a ticket to the 2008-09 New Jersey Ironmen home opener at Prudential Center this fall. For more information regarding camps, contact Assistant Coach Kevin Sloan at 973-757-6323 or ksloan@njironmen.com.

USL NOTE: Ironmen forward Dizzy Antoniuk, who was named to the 2007-08 All-MISL First Team, was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week for the second week in a row after scoring a first half goal against his former team, the Atlanta Silverbacks, this past weekend.
