New Jersey Ironmen News Release
Newark, N.J. (Friday, July 18, 2008) - The New Jersey Ironmen will be joining the New Jersey Jackals this Sunday when they host the Worcester Tornadoes as part of "Soccer Night" at Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University. The first pitch of this game between Can-Am rivals will occur at 5:05 p.m.
"We feel it is a privilege to work with our fellow sports teams around New Jersey," Ironmen General Manager Tony Novo commented. "We are glad to see the Jackals promote the game of soccer, and we are happy to assist them in doing so."
Throughout Sunday evening, there will be various soccer-related activities and on-field promotions conducted by both teams. Forward Nebo Stamenkovic and Ironmen Dance Team members will also be in attendance to mingle with Jackal fans and sign autographs.
The New Jersey Jackals are a member of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball. The club was founded in 1998 and won the Northeast League championship in their first season. The Jackals have since won three more league titles (2001, 2002, 2004). The team plays at Yogi Berra Stadium, which is located on the Little Falls side of the Montclair State University campus. The facility is named in honor of former New York Yankee and Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra, a longtime Montclair resident.
The New Jersey Ironmen are currently underway in their inaugural summer camp programming. Camps are conducted by the Ironmen coaching staff and players, offering participants the rare experience of learning directly from the pros. All players also receive a t-shirt and a ticket to the 2008-09 New Jersey Ironmen home opener at Prudential Center this fall. For more information regarding camps, contact Assistant Coach Kevin Sloan at 973-757-6323 or ksloan@njironmen.com.
