New Jersey Ironmen News Release

Newark, N.J. (Wednesday, July 30, 2008) - Alongside Newark Mayor Cory Booker and Councilman Augusto Amador, New Jersey Ironmen players and staff will preside over the grand opening of the new Ironbound B-Field complex this Saturday, August 2. Following a 10:00 a.m. parade that starts at Peter Francisco Park, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be performed at 11:00 a.m. at the newly transformed field at the Ironbound Stadium on St. Charles Street.

"This is a very exciting moment for the people of the Ironbound and the entire City of Newark," Ironmen General Manager Tony Novo stated about the opening. "We hope this can now open the doors for our own players and coaches to train players at these great facilities. Overall, this is a great day in the growth and development of soccer and sports in general for this region."

The Ironbound Stadium has undergone a complete metamorphosis over the past year, rebuilding facilities that include both a soccer and baseball field. The new complex will house sporting events of all levels in the Ironbound. The original field, which was installed in 1999, has been replaced with PureGrass. The new surface is a highly durable synthetic grass system with lead-free nylon fibers.

The Ironmen will be in attendance with players and the Spirit of Newark inflatable. The festivities following the ribbon cutting will be a celebration for the entire City of Newark, and there will be various games taking place to break in the brand new compound.

The New Jersey Ironmen are currently underway in their inaugural summer camp programming. Camps are conducted by the Ironmen coaching staff and players, offering participants the rare experience of learning directly from the pros. All players also receive a t-shirt, soccer ball and a ticket to the 2008-09 New Jersey Ironmen home opener at Prudential Center this fall.
