New Jersey Ironmen News Release

New York, N.Y. (Tuesday, May 6, 2008) - The New Jersey Ironmen staff and team mascot, IronDog, assisted in welcoming in the Sports Museum of America (SmA) today when they headed to Manhattan for the opening ceremony of the fan-interactive sports museum. Among those honored in the dedication was goalkeeper Tony Meola, who is now a member of the SmA Honorary Board of Trustees.

"It was a huge honor to share the stage with some of the greatest athletes to ever play sports," Meola commented after the opening stage ceremony. "For a sports fan, the museum is definitely 'one-stop shopping' as far as a Hall of Fame is concerned. They did an excellent job of spreading the wealth among all sports."

The Sports Museum of America is set to open their doors to the general public on Wednesday, May 7. The SmA pays tribute to all sports, and they have partnered with more than 60 different Halls of Fame, national governing bodies and other premiere athletic organizations. The museum showcases exhibits, memorabilia and stories while honoring many of the top sports heroes in the history of their respective games. In addition to hosting the first Women's Sports Hall of Fame, the SmA will be the permanent home of the Billie Jean King International Women's Sports Center and the Heisman Trophy (including the annual Heisman Trophy presentation ceremony).

"The Sports Museum of America will, for the first time, offer visitors one destination where they can come to experience the feeling of triumph at the core of all great athletes and all sports," Philip Schwalb, the SmA Founder and CEO, said. "With the tremendous support of our partners in top professional athletic organizations and the generosity of some of the nation's greatest and most legendary athletes, we'll be able to share their stories, and through them, showcase the excitement, grandeur and significance of sports in American culture."

To find out more about the Sports Museum of America, visit their website at www.sportsmuseum.com. The SmA is located at 26 Broadway in New York City, and it is easily accessible via the PATH train and Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty ferries.

The SmA is currently offering a special deal for all Ironmen fans. By clicking here, Ironmen fans can order tickets throughout the month of May for only $15, which is $12 off the regular adult ticket price.

USL NOTE: Ironmen forward Dizzy Antoniuk, who was named to the 2007-08 All-MISL First Team, was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week after scoring the lone goal of a 1-0 contest this past Sunday evening to uplift his Carolina Railhawks over Miami FC at Tropical Park Stadium in south Florida.
