Ironmen Head To Chicago To Face The Undefeated Storm
November 16, 2007 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
New Jersey Ironmen News Release
NEWARK, NJ- The New Jersey Ironmen (2-1) head to Chicago today for what will be a crucial test in playing the undefeated Chicago Storm (3-0) on Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. This is the final contest in a four-game road swing to start the inaugural season for the Ironmen.
"Chicago has a lot of firepower, and they are probably the best team in the league in terms of personnel," Omid Namazi, Ironmen Head Coach and Vice President of Soccer Operations, stated. "We would have to be at our best defensively if we expect to come out with the desirable result".
Coach Namazi also commented on where the Ironmen are relative to his preseason expectations.
"Going into the season, I didn't know what to expect," he said. "As far as where we are now, I feel we can compete with any team in this league."
The biggest road block that any player in the MISL undergoes is the transition from the outdoor game to the indoor game. Energetic midfielder Stefan Stokic referenced how the Ironmen, who have an abundance of MISL rookies, have so quickly overcome that transitional period.
"Indoor soccer is tough to learn, but you pick up the game very quickly when you have a coach like Omid Namazi," Stokic remarked. "With the talented coaching staff and players we have on this team, we'll go far."
Stokic also spoke about the excitement of the team finally coming home after this weekend's match up.
"We play 100% no matter where we play, but we are definitely excited about finally coming home after this game," he proclaimed. "We look forward to seeing our home crowd and playing on our home field."
The club will face the Detroit Ignition in their home debut on Saturday, December 1st. Joining the Ironmen as an honorary captain for the historical outing will be soccer legend Pelé. The Ironmen traveled to Detroit last Sunday and exploded for 21 points in a seven-point win.
Ticket lines are open now for season, individual and group ticket packages. Do not miss your chance to see Pelé help kick off the Ironmen's home slate! Call 1-800-IRONMEN or log on to www.njironmen.com today to secure your place in New Jersey Ironmen history!
