TRAVIS, HOLMES & BROWN NAMED IPFL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

IPFL Press Release

Omaha quarterback Troy Travis (6-3, 240), Tennessee defensive back Clayton Holmes (5-11, 190) and Boise kick returner Willie Brown (5-11, 190) have been selected as the Indoor Professional Football League (IPFL) players of the week.

Travis garnered the IPFL Offensive Player of the Week honor for his performance in Omaha's 57-34 victory over Boise. Facing a defense that was strategically schemed to make the quarterback beat it, Travis did just that. Against the Stallions he was 18-26-0 passing for 200 yards and three touchdowns. In the second quarter Travis began a 21-0 scoring run by rushing for a one-yard touchdown run. He followed that score by throwing a pair of touchdown passes to wide receiver Quincy Kenoly. Late in the first half he teamed up with Kenoly again on a 16-yard scoring pass that staked the Beef to a 38-21 lead.

Holmes was named the IPFL Defensive Player of the Week for his effort in Tennessee's 40-23 road win at St. Louis. Holmes broke a 7-7 tie as he intercepted a pass and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown to put the ThunderCats in front to stay. The interception was just one of three that Holmes made during the game. He also had two unassisted tackles and broke up one pass.

Brown was tabbed the IPFL Special Teams Player of the Week. Against the Beef Brown racked up 143 all purpose yards, including 95 yards on five returns. In addition to averaging 18.4 yards per kickoff return, Brown also rushed for 25 yards and had four receptions for 23 yards and three touchdowns.
