Introducing New Manchester Signees

February 1, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Saint John Riptide News Release

Manchester, New Hampshire: The Manchester Millrats have made several key roster moves in the last few weeks.

"We've made maneuvers that we feel will help us come together as a team, as a unit," explained Millrats General Manager Ian McCarthy, "each of these guys gives us something different, put the common goals is to play hard together so we can compete for a championship."

The new additions are:

Al Stewart 5'10 Point Guard

A lightening fast point guard who began this ABA season on the Corning Bulldogs, Stewart has been impressive as a Manchester starter. Filling in admirably for the departed Ismael Caro, Stewart is 4-0 as a starter and has posted averages of 17.3 points and 8.0 assists per game.

In college, he was known as the quickest player to ever come through Drake University.

Charles Mason 6'8 Forward

Mason is a veteran of pro basketball with unlimited shooting range. He combines deep shooting with athleticism, which makes him a tough cover. In 6 games with the Millrats, he has averaged 13.3 points per game to go with 8.8 rebounds.

A final cut of the Denver Nuggets free agent camp in 2004, Mason has also played in Romania, China, Ecuador, Argentina, Ireland, and France.

Richmond Pittman Jr. 6'6 Forward

Pittman was a starting forward on the Cape Cod Frenzy (ABA) last season before departing in January of '06 for Germany. Thru 18 games with the Frenzy, Pittman averaged 19.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game.

In Germany, Pittman averaged 18.2 points and 8.8 rebounds per game for FC Schalke in the second division Bundesliga.

Ronald Wright 6'10 Forward-Center

Wright, the second member of the folded Corning Bulldogs to sign with the Millrats, is a quick and athletic power forward who provides shot blocking and solid outside shooting. He is also quick nimble for his height and position, and is able to beat opponents down the court in transition.

At NAIA school Daemen College, he averaged 11.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks per game.

The new additions will be in action Saturday at 7:05 PM in NH, as Manchester faces Vermont for the last time in the regular season. The #1 ranked Frost Heaves are riding a nine winning streak, while the #5 ranked Millrats are on a four game winning streak of their own. The Millrats are the lone team to have defeated Vermont this season (3 times).
