TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm is proud to announce that former wide receiver and kick returner Kendrick Ings has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League.
"This a great accomplishment for Kendrick," said Storm vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch. "His hard work and dedication has put him in a position to move on to the next level. We are all proud of him."
Ings (5-foot-10, 180 lbs., Miller Grove H.S. (GA)) joined the Storm for his second season in the blue and gold in 2016. He played in five games, reeling in 20 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns. His main impact was felt on special teams where he had 28 kickoff returns for 582 yards and a touchdown. In just five games, Ings became the team's leading returner, averaging 116.4 kickoff return yards per game.
He began his Arena Football League career with the Storm in 2015 after attending a preseason open tryout. For his career, Ings has caught 88 passes for 1,240 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also has 110 kickoff returns for 2,017 yards and four touchdowns.
Ings spent the beginning of the 2015 NFL season with the Detroit Lions on the team's practice squad. He would also spend part of the 2016 Canadian Football League season with the BC Lions.
