Infielder Parker Murdie Signs with Paints
CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, signed infielder Parker Murdie to a contract for the upcoming season, which begins Thursday, May 30.
The 6-foot, 170-pound, junior at Grand Valley State University hit .284 this season with a pair of home runs and 14 RBIs in 43 games.
Prior to playing at GVSU this spring, Murdie played two years at Jackson College, where he was named All-Conference twice and First Team All-Region as a sophomore after hitting .479 with 32 RBIs and 50 runs scored.
The Novi, Mich., native played summer ball for the Northwoods League's Kalamazoo Growlers and Waterloo Bucks last year. In 12 games with the Growlers, Murdie hit .350 with two doubles and three RBIs.
The 2019 Chillicothe Paints season begins Thursday, May 30, at VA Memorial Stadium against the Champion City Kings at 7:05 p.m. The Chillicothe Gazette presents FIREWORKS EXTRAVAGANZA by 94 Country and draft beer will be just $1 for Thirsty Thursday. The Paints have made the playoffs seven times in the 10 seasons since joining the Prospect League as a charter member in 2009. The Paints regularly lead the Prospect League in attendance with an average of nearly 2,000 fans per game and are one of the most highly-attended collegiate wood-bat summer teams in the country.
