Indians Players Pick-up NAHL Awards

The North American Hockey League announced its 2003-04 All-Star and All-Rookie teams. Players from the NAHL Regular Season and South Division Playoff Champion Texas Tornado and North Division Regular Season Champion Soo Kewadin Casino Indians together claimed ten of the eighteen available spots on this year's NAHL All-Star and All-Rookie teams. All in all, players from nine different NAHL clubs were honored.

Indians forward Logan Bittle was named to the NAHL's 1st Team All-Star squad, after finishing 2nd in total points with 71-pts and total goals scored with 31. Bittle anchored the league's best powerplay unit and finished 2nd in the NAHL with 13-powerplay goals. Bittle also finished 2nd in the NAHL with 8-game-winning goals.

Veteran Defenseman Mark Lutz was named to the 2nd Team All-Star squad after finishing 2nd in the NAHL in goals scored (13) and total points (47) accumulated by a defensemen. The Steven's Point, Wisconsin native was also named the Indians Team Most Valuable Player and Most Outstanding Defenseman.

Indians defenseman and Sault Ste. Marie native Jim Jorgensen was named to the All-Rookie Team. Jorgensen collected 8-goals and 23-assists in 55-league games this season. Jorgensen finished 10th in overall scoring among NAHL defensemen and recently became the 7th Indians player to commit to play Division I college hockey next season, after accepting a scholarship to play for Ferris State University of the CCHA.

Rookie goaltender Derek MacIntyre was the only player to receive kudos as a member of both the All-Star and All-Rookie teams. MacIntyre was named to the 2nd Team All-Star squad, while also garnering All-Rookie Team honors after leading the NAHL with 1.77 GAA to go along with his 31-3-2 record, 4-shutouts, and .924 SVPCT. MacIntyre finished the league 2nd among goaltenders with 31-wins in 39-league games, while helping the Indians lead the league in least goals against.
