IFL Players of the Week

Corpus Christi, Texas: The Intense Football League Office selected the leagues outstanding Players of the Week, on Wednesday. The CenTex Barracudas James Brown, Louisiana Swashbucklers John Paul Jones and Corpus Christi Hammerheads Justin Hardman are honored for their play in week 13.

James Brown earned Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in the 2008 season. Brown had an impressive outing Saturday, completing 24 of 34 passes for 262 yards, with no interceptions. He connected with 3 different receivers for his 7 total passing touchdowns. Brown rushed the ball 3 times for 16 yards, leading the Barracudas to a 54-7 victory over the Alaska Wild. This Saturday the Barracudas (6-4) host the Katy Ruff Riders (4-5) into the Bell County Expo Center.

Defensive Player of the Week goes to Defensive Lineman John Paul Jones of the (9-0) Louisiana Swashbucklers. Jones led the Swashbucklers defensive effort with 5 tackles, all solo. He had 3 quarterback sacks and 4 tackles were for a loss totaling 29 yards. As if that was not enough, Jones also blocked a kick and recovered a fumble as the Swashbucklers knocked off the Odessa Roughnecks, 56-37. The Frisco Thunder (6-5) take their shot at the Swashbucklers this Saturday at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Corpus Christi Hammerhead Kick Returner, Justin Hardman, earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the second time. Hardman gave the Hammerheads excellent starting field position after every return he had. He had 5 returns for 127 yards, an average of 25.4 a return. The Hammerheads (8-1) defeated the Fairbanks Grizzlies (1-9) by a score of 77-54. They finish off their Alaska road trip Thursday evening against the Alaska Wild (4-5).

The 2008 IFL season is down to the final five weeks, and all teams are still alive for post season action. All of the IFL teams are striving to get to and win the Intense Bowl 4, and represent the league against the United Indoor Football League's Champion on July 26, 2008.
