BOARDMAN, Ohio (Monday, May 12, 2008) - The Mahoning Valley Phantoms Figure Skating Club will be presenting the 2008 Spring Figure Skating Show this weekend at the Ice Zone in Boardman.

The theme of the show is "Strokes of Color." Including two special guest skaters from Erie, Penn., the event will feature over 50 participants, mostly from the figure skating club and the learn to skate program - each skating to a song with a different color in its title.

"This is our end of the year celebration for all the accomplishments of the skaters during the season," says figure skating director Skip Mackall. "We did the show two years ago, and it was a big success. We've had in excess of 500 people attend before, and we hope to do more this time."

There are two separate shows. The first is scheduled to begin this Saturday night at 7 p.m. and the second on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

On-ice seating is $100 per six-person table, while bleacher seats are available for $8 for adults, and $5 for Seniors and children 12 and under. Reserve your tickets early by calling the Ice Zone at 330-965-1423.

"It's a great event for people of all ages because we will have skaters of all ages - everybody will be interested because there will be something there for everyone," Mackall says.

"Over the last two years, since we established the club, we have had the programs get bigger and bigger, and the quality of the shows has gotten better as the skaters got better. It's only going to keep getting better from here."

The Ice Zone, located at 360 McClurg Road in Boardman, is the only double-rink ice skating facility in the Valley. The 70,000 square-foot building features Olympic- and NHL-sized rinks, a full service food and beverage concession, a 5,000 square-foot mezzanine viewing area, a retail pro shop, a video arcade, and six locker rooms. The Phantoms Figure Skating Club and the Ice Zone are sponsored by the B.J. Alan Co. - Phantom Fireworks, located in Youngstown, Ohio.
