IBL's Exposure Camps Give Players A Shot At Making A Pro Roster
Published on February 26, 2008 under International Basketball League (IBL) News Release
Portland, OR-The International Basketball League has scheduled two separate exposure camps for players interested in earning a roster spot on an IBL team for the 2008 season. The first camp will take place on Friday, March 14 through Sunday, March 16 at the Genesis Center in Gary, Indiana. The second camp will be held in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, March 22, and Sunday, March 23.
Each camp offers several guarantees for players who attend:
- Attendees will play in actual IBL games
- At least 6 IBL teams will be in attendance at each game
- At least 5 agents will be in attendance at each camp
Additionally, each player will be given a thorough evaluation. Camp Directors and coaches will give each player feedback on whether that player's skills are sufficient to play in the American minor leagues, and/or whether that player can expect to earn a contract overseas.
Following the 2007 season, the IBL had over 100 players earn contracts with overseas teams. The IBL expects this number to grow to at least 125 players following the 2008 season.
