In Barrie, the Red Sox won their eighth in a row by outscoring the Barrie Baycats 12-8 in one of three IBL games Saturday night. First-place Brantford is now 16-3, four games ahead of second-place London and five ahead of third-place Barrie who are 11-8.
The Red Sox scored four runs in the third to overcome a 4-0 deficit and five more in the sixth to go ahead for good by a 9-8 score.
Scott Thorman led the Sox' 20-hit attack with three hits and three RBI's while Jason Gotwalt added three hits and one RBI. Josh McCurdy had two hits and a two-run home run in the sixth with Wayne Forman adding a solo home run in the third inning and Terrell Alliman stroking a two-run homer in the sixth inning.
JonWaltenbury had four hits and three RBI's for Barrie with Ryan Spataro adding three hits.
Mark James, in relief of Brantford starter Adam Kudryk, picked up the win. James went 2 1/3 innings and was followed by three other relievers. Kudryk went 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on six hits and five walks with two strikeouts.
Barrie reliever CJ Machete took the loss, allowing five runs in 1 2/3 innings in relief of starter Scott Kelly.

In Guelph, Marek Deska hurled a complete game, five-hitter to lead the Toronto Maple Leafs to 5-2 win over the Royals. Deska walked none and struckout eight.
At the plate, Will Richards had two hits for the Leafs while Branfy Arias added a two-run home run and Aaron Gaian had a two-run double.
Joel Garton supplied Guelph's offence with a two-run home run in the seventh. Guelph starter Roberto Suppa took the loss, pitching five innings, allowing all five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out one. Chris Nagorski came on in relief, going four innings and allowing only one hit with three strikeouts.

In Ottawa, the Fat Cats jumped out to an 8-0 lead and coasted to an 11-2 win over the Burlington Twins.
Matt McGovern led the Fat Cats with three hits and two RBI's while Jason Coker and Eitan Maoz each added two hits and two RBI's. Joe Stone and Mark Charette also added two hits each.
Peter Bako had two hits for Burlington.
Brandon Huffman (4-2) picked up the win for Ottawa, allowing four hits in seven innings with two walks and nine strikeouts. Reliever Danny Desclouds finished the final two innings, allowing both runs on three hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Burlington starter Matthew St. Kitts (1-3) took the loss, pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
