Brantford 11 Burlington 9

Andrew Vant Wout wasn't at his best on Saturday but with the Red Sox offence doing some damage to the tune of 15 hits and 11 runs, his start was enough to propel Brantford to a win. Vant Wout gave up six runs over 5 2/3 innings on eight hits and a walk and struck out four batters during the game.

Brandon Dailey, hitting in the leadoff spot for Brantford, had three hits including his second home run of the season and scored three times. He also drove in a pair of runs. Terrell Alliman launched his second home run of the season as part of a three hit, three RBI game.

Steven Dressler took the loss for Burlington after a four-inning start in which he allowed seven runs, all earned, off five hits and three walks. The Bandit's bullpen was only moderately more successful allowing an additional four runs over the next five frames.

The Bandits might have lost the game but their batting order made some dents in the Red Sox pitching. Jose Torralba, Tyler Hardie and Dan Treccia had three hits apiece with Treccia hitting his fourth home run of the season and driving in three runs. Dan Fraceschetti hit his first home run of the season and added a stolen base and two runs scored.

Brantford improves to 10-14 on the season and visit Hamilton to take on the Cardinals Sunday afternoon. Burlington falls to 4-17 and travels to Toronto on Sunday to face the Maple Leafs.

Kitchener 9 Guelph 3

After six innings, Kitchener and Guelph were deadlocked at 2-2. After the seventh, Kitchener was way out in front and didn't look back until the final out. A seven run, seven hit, seventh inning blew the game wide open and allowed the Panthers to claim a 9-3 victory.

Kitchener's Mike Schnurr had a solid start going six innings allowing only two runs on just four hits and three walks to earn the win. Schnurr currently stands fourth in the league with a 3.44 ERA and is third in wins with three. One of Schnurr's teammates is also among the IBL leaders in a number of categories. Sean Reilly hit his ninth home run of the season to sit atop the IBL. He is also fifth in batting average at .376 and third in RBI with 26. David Whiteside had three hits for the Panthers and drove in three runs. Trevor Nyp also collected three hits along with a run scored and another driven in.

Guelph's Nathan Borges took the loss after going 6 1/3 innings giving up eight runs on ten hits and three walks. Guelph struggled to mount much of an offence all game and Justin Interisano was the lone Royal hitter to have a multi-hit game.

Kitchener continues its slow climb up the standings and is playing .600 baseball over the past ten games. Their record of 12-13 leaves only three games out of third place. Guelph slips to third place at 15-10 behind Barrie and London with their third consecutive loss. The Panthers and Royals next play on Sunday when they have a rematch in Guelph.
