
Huntington Heroes Partner with United Way

Huntington, WV - The Huntington Heroes, indoor football league has partnered with United Way of the River Cities to create awareness around pressing community issues and to raise dollars for the River Cities. "We couldn't ask for a better partnership," said Mitch Ramey, General Manager of the Huntington Heroes. "United Way asks us all to be heroes in our community by making a difference through many organizations and programs. The Huntington Heroes are obviously up for the challenge and want to do our part to help the community." On April 21, 2007, at 7 p.m. the Heroes will face off with Pittsburgh. A one dollar donation, from each ticket purchased for this game will benefit United Way of the River Cities. Other United Way Night activities will include a raffle for a team jersey autographed by the Heroes players and an autographed team ball. A special half time event for children will also take place. This is a chance for children ages 6-12 to participate in an on field "Relay for United Way". Kids can receive a free game coupon and adults can receive a $2.00 discount coupon by contacting United Way of the River Cities at 304.523.8929. "We are grateful for this opportunity to work together," said Laura Gilliam, Executive Director of United Way of the River Cities. "This is a fun way for United Way to support and patronize one of our community partners and a fun way to raise money for the programs and initiatives we support."
