Horsemen Rested and Ready to Go

July 18, 2006 - United Indoor Football Association (UIF) News Release

The Lexington Horsemen (13-2) started their season with a win and then a quick bye week in the 2nd week of the season. The early bye week would give the Horsemen the needed time to work out some flaws and push them to a 7 game winning streak. Week nine of the season would prove to be Lexington's first test of resistance as they faced the Rock River Raptors (11-4). The Raptors gave the Horsemen their only two losses of the season in week nine and week eleven. The first contest between these two teams would take place in Rockford, where a dominating Raptor team defeated the Horsemen 62-43. The Horsemen then hosted the Raptors in week eleven. Lexington, who trailed 20-12 at halftime, fell behind by as many as 14 points in the second half. Lexington would put together several rallies throughout the contest, but Rock River wouldn't be raddled and maintained a 55-46 victory over the Horsemen. Lexington completed their season with a close victory traveling to the home of the Bloomington Extreme (59-51).

The Horsemen were led by quarterback Eddie Eviston who completed his season with 188 yards per game, 2460 total yards and 59 touchdowns. Eddie's consistent target was provided by Harry Lewis throughout the season. Lewis finished the season with 1224 all-purpose yards, 23 touchdowns and 81.6 yards per game. The Horsemen defense was led by a couple of star performers. William Mulder (DB) led the league with 12 interceptions and 2 touchdowns and fan favorite, Champ Kelly (DB), led the team in tackles with 76 on the year (60 solo).

Several Horsemen players broke season records this season. Eviston now holds the UIF record in touchdowns in a season (59), pass efficiency (108.6) and pass completion (65.4%). Harry Lewis broke season records with receptions per game (5.2), receiving yards (1,002) and total receptions (78). Chad Spencer holds records for receiving touchdowns (22) and receiving yards per game (68.8). And maybe the Horsemen's most valuable player all season long, William "Agent" Mulder, broke several records throughout the season. Mulder now holds records with interceptions (12), interceptions return yards (228), interceptions per game (0.92), passes defended per game (2.08), total interceptions/break-ups (27) and kick return average (26.6).

Lexington will meet the Rock River Raptors for the 3rd time this year for the post-season play. The Horsemen will be looking for their first victory over the Rock River Raptors. The semi-final playoff game is slated to start at 7:30 pm EST in Lexington on Saturday, July 22.
