The Harrisburg City Islanders will unveil their fast, attacking game to the home crowd against the Real Maryland Monarchs on Saturday, April 24th! They may also unveil another explosive addition to the line-up with the recent signing of Vince Petrasso, pending USSF approval.

"Petrasso is a good attacking outside mid-fielder," said Islanders Coach Becher. "He's a great dribbler who will attack guy's one on one and will add a new element to our game."

The addition to the already explosive offense and the veteran mid-field and defense could be devastating to opponents. The team is pumped to start strong for the home crowd, especially facing two former teammates. Nicki Paterson and Nate Baker both played for the Islanders last year, but will take the field in a Monarch's uniform.

Becher stressed the importance of the home team advantage. "There are a lot of good teams and it's critical to win your home games," said Becher. In 2009 the Islanders did just that, with a 7-2-1 record at the Skyline Sports Complex, allowing only five goals while scoring 21 over the 10 games.

The team hopes to build on their gritty 2-2 draw against the 2009 USL-2 League champion Richmond Kickers on their home turf, and Becher is looking to the veterans to maintain the team's consistency and composure. "We can't get too excited about the result in Richmond," said Becher. The team will also focus on tightening up a bit on defense and continue to attack with a fast-paced game, according to Becher.

The home opener kicks off at Skyline Sports Complex, City Island at 7:00pm. The first 600 fans will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Capital BlueCross. Bring a marker to get those t-shirts signed by players after the game!
