Holiday week begins Tuesday night in Brooklyn

An abbreviated schedule saw Danbury (6-5-1) go 2-0 to extend their winning streak to three games. The Mad Hatters are now only one point behind the second place Jersey Rockhoppers (7-5-0). First place Brooklyn (11-2-1) went 1-1 and have a nine point lead on Jersey. The Rockhoppers do have two games in hand however. Hudson Valley (1-11-0) continues to look for a winning solution.

The EPHL Week Ahead

The EPHL's first "mini-series" gets underway on Tuesday night (12/23) when Danbury travels to Brooklyn for the first of three games this week which became necessary when the league schedule was re-done in mid-October. Danbury defeated Brooklyn 5-4 in their last meeting.

Thursday 12/25: Merry Christmas (No games scheduled)

Friday 12/26: Brooklyn @ Danbury (7:30pm)

Friday 12/26: Hudson Valley @ Jersey (7:00pm)

Saturday 12/27: Danbury @ Brooklyn (2:00pm)

Saturday 12/27: Jersey @ Hudson Valley (7:30pm / Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie)

Sunday 12/28: Brooklyn @ Hudson Valley (4:30pm / Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh)

EPHL Player of the Week

Defenseman Dan Hickman of the Danbury Mad Hatters is the Eastern Professional Hockey League Player of the Week. The twenty-four year old native of Hamden, CT scored three goals in the first period of Saturday night's victory over Hudson Valley. Hickman's third goal at 19:37 of the period turned out to be the game winning goal. Dan played college hockey at Southern New Hampshire University and has been playing professionally since the 2005-06 season in the SPHL, UHL, CHL, MAHL, and ECHL.

EPHL Goaltender of the Week

Derek MacIntyre of the Danbury Mad Hatters has been named the Eastern Professional Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. MacIntyre was between the pipes for both of the 'Hatters victories last week, stopping 64 of 70 shots in wins over Brooklyn and Hudson Valley. The Stanwood, Michigan native is second in the EPHL with a 3.25 goals against average and a 90.5% save percentage.

EPHL Notes

Last Friday's (12/19) Jersey @ Danbury game was postponed due to the poor weather conditions in Connecticut which included the closing of portions of both I-95 and the Merritt Parkway for a number of hours. A make-up date will be announced in the near future and fans holding tickets for the December 19th game in Danbury can exchange them for any remaining 08/09 Mad Hatters regular season home game.....the make-up date for the postponed Thursday, November 27th Danbury @ Jersey game has been set. The new date will be Tuesday, February 24th @ 7:00pm. Anyone holding tickets from the 11/27 game will be able to use them on February 24th.....Brooklyn's James Brannigan leads the EPHL in goals scored (18) and points (30).....the Aces Kyle McCullough leads in assists (21) while teammate CJ Tozzo is the league's power play goals leader (5).....Hudson Valley's Chris Seifert leads in shorthanded goals (2).
