Battle Creek Revolution News Release


(Battle Creek, Mi) The eyes of the hockey world will be focused on the Cereal City this weekend with the 2nd Annual All American Hockey League free agent camp. The Revolution Arena (The Rink) will be hosting the camp for the first time in the franchise history as they enter their third pro season. Hockey players from all across the world will be participating in this three day camp.

The camp will kick off this Friday night with the first scrimmage taking to the ice at 6:30pm. Coaches, front office staff, and current players from all member clubs of the All American Hockey League will be on hand to scout players for the various hockey clubs for the 2010 season. The camp will run until Sunday afternoon and will include with all member clubs participating in a live draft of the camp prospects starting at 3:00pm. The camp will be open to the public and all fans are encouraged to come out and watch all weekend long at these kids battling for a chance to earn an invite to the preseason camps starting in October for the start of the third season of the All American Hockey League.

"We are proud to showcase the city of Battle Creek to the hockey world," stated David Darkey, General Manager of the Revolution. "The main goal of the Revolution ownership group is to show our support to the community by bringing business to the city."

The Revolution ownership group expects an economic impact from the camp to help the downtown businesses. There will be players and families staying at local hotels, eating at down town restaurants, and looking for entertainment during the off times from the camp. There will also be league officials, front office staff, and owners that will also be in town for the weekend. It's anticipated that as much as $15,000 will be spent on hotels, $6,000 spent in at local restaurants, and another $4,000 spent in entertainment in the downtown district. With this three day camp there will be over $25,000 impact felt in the local economy for the city of Battle Creek.

The Battle Creek Revolution is proud to host this event and show case the improvements of Revolution Arena to hockey world. The Revolution staff has worked hard in performing their tasks such as painting the concourse areas of the arena and upgrading equipment in the arena. The arena management team is also waiting on building permits to able to bring stadium style seating to the arena by opening night. The Revolution ownership group hopes this event will grab the attention of league officials so the league while bring future events to the city like the All-Star game and league meetings that would bring even more business to the city of Battle Creek.
