Huntington Heroes News Release

The Heroes continued their winning streak in a convincing 70-34 win over the Danville Demolition Saturday night. Speed and defensive pressure was the story of this game, as the Heroes had too much for the Demolition.

The Heroes defense put pressure on the Danville quarterback all night long recording numerous sacks and nearly missing many more. The defense also recorded two defense touchdowns.

"We played pretty well," said head coach Garry McPeek. "We had 49 at halftime, and we actually coasted in the second half. The defense got two scores. It was an all around good win. We played well in all facets of the game, offense, defense and special teams."

On offense, Donte Newsome, the AIFA's leading rusher, continued his tear through AIFA defenses. Newsome found the endzone five times. Dane Damron continued to lead the Heroes offense. With a 35-6 lead mid-way through the second quarter he had not missed a pass. "Dane threw the ball well," said McPeek, "I'm very pleased with this win."

With this win coupled with the Canton Legends loss this evening the Heroes now have sole possession of second place in the AIFA's north division. The Heroes advance their record to 7-3 and will take next week off before hosting the Demolition on May 12.
