Chillicothe Paints News Release

QUINCY, Ill. - Zack Harvey didn't allow a hit until one out in the bottom of the eighth and got plenty of run support as the Chillicothe Paints (28-23), presented by Adena Health System, beat the Quincy Gems (27-23) 12-0 Wednesday night at QU Stadium.

The Paints led the game off with back-to-back hits from Dallas Hall and Chad Roberts. Dillon Dingler drove in Hall on a groundout to give the Paints the only run they would need.

The Paints took advantage of Quincy miscues in the fourth, scoring two runs without a hit in the inning. Chillicothe added three more in the fifth and six in the seventh to go up 12-0.

Harvey (5-2) entered the eighth inning with a no-hitter and just one over the minimum on 71 pitches. After retiring the first batter of the inning, Corey Young sent a hanging slider into left field for a line-drive single, breaking up the no-hit bid. Harvey smiled and tipped his cap toward Young. The Paints' right-hander eventually earned the win after eight innings of work. He allowed one hit, walked three and struck out four. Ross Thompson struck out two in a perfect ninth to finish the game and preserve the shutout.

The Paints continue the road trip Thursday night when they cross the Mississippi River to take on the Hannibal Hoots at Clemens Field at 7:35 p.m. EDT. Michael Jacob is expected to start for Chillicothe. The game, as all Paints' games, can be heard live on WXIZ 100.9 Cash FM, ChillicothePaints.com and the Paints mobile app. Fans can watch games live and on-demand by subscribing to Prospect League TV.
