Harlem loses first game as Strong Dogs

Tampa Bay Strong Dogs News Release

CLARKSDALE, MISSISSIPPI - After not playing any games due to the January east coast blizzard and scheduled visiting teams unable to travel to New York City, the Harlem Strong Dogs visited the Mississippi Stingers for their first game in over two weeks.

The last time the Strong Dogs saw action, Harlem beat Philadelphia 122-86 on January 16, 2005. The Strong Dogs took their first flight road trip of the season and Harlem was certainly not treated with any southern hospitality by the Mississippi Stingers style of play on the court Tuesday night.

The Strong Dogs simply could not live up to their names on the first night of February trying to extend their winning streak beyond five games. The Stingers just simply built an insurmountable lead against Harlem and even with a gallant comeback effort in the fourth quarter, the Strong Dogs fell short 134-117.

"[Harlem] hasn't played a game in over two weeks and the rust showed during most of the game," explained ABA East All-Stars Assistant and Strong Dogs Head Coach Kenny Charles. This is the first loss experienced by Harlem as the Strong Dogs and puts them two games behind in the loss column to the ABA Blue (East) Division leaders Mississippi Stingers.
