KENNESAW, GA (November 9, 2010) - With the opening match of the El Patrón International Soccer Series featuring Guatemala vs. Guyana presented by NAPA AUTO PARTS at KSU Soccer Stadium on Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 7:30PM ET, the Guyana Football Federation today released a roster with considerable international experience including four players competing professionally in England.

Ricky Shakes has been with multiple clubs in England including Bolton Wanderers of the English Premier League in addition to Swindon Town and Bristol Rovers. Shakes has had the rare experience of playing for two national teams with parents from both Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. He played only a single match for T&T before switching his allegiance to Guyana in anticipation of leading the team to World Cup Qualifying.

Walter Moore and Brion Baker are both playing professionally in the top Caribbean League, the Trinidad and Tobago Premier League. Chris Nurse has had a successful stint for the Puerto Rico Islanders and John Rodrigues has recently signed to MLS club DC United after successful seasons at Miami FC of the North American Soccer League (NASL).

National team captain Sean Cameron will lead the team against Guatemala in hopes to continue the Guyanese success in the Caribbean. He experienced a successful NCAA college soccer career at Rutgers University and has been playing professionally with Miami FC for the past several years.

The Guyana National Team continues to climb in the FIFA world rankings (#98) with continued success in the Digicel Caribbean Cup (the top competition for all Caribbean National teams). The team has just advanced out of the 2nd round of the group stage, narrowly defeating Haiti to be among the final eight teams.

The Nov. 17 match at KSU Soccer Stadium will be the last competitive match for Guyana prior to their final round in which they look to raise the championship for the first time in their country's history. The Guyanese hope is to overtake Jamaica, which is currently the only Caribbean nation ahead of them in the FIFA world rankings.
