
Guardians Travel to Vegas in Search of First Win

Saturday night at Cashman Field will mark the first time the Orlando Guardians have played an XFL North Division opponent this season.
The Vipers have already played outside their division, falling to Arlington 22-20 in the opener.
Vegas and Orlando will both be searching for their first victory as the season hits its halfway point.
While 0-4, Vegas is in the middle of the pack when it comes to scoring offense. The Vipers rank No. 5 in the XFL in scoring, averaging 17.5 points per game. Meanwhile, the Guardians rank No. 8 in the league in scoring, at 12.25 ppg.
Both the Guardians and Vipers have had trouble keeping their opponents off the scoreboard. The Guardians are No. 8 in the league, allowing an average of 29.2 points per game. Vegas is just slightly better at No. 7, allowing 25.5 points per contest.
Saturday night's game is slated for a 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET kickoff and willl be broadcast on FX.
Series Notes:
- First non-division game of the season for Orlando. Four of the Guardians' final six games will be versus the XFL North Division.
- Either Orlando or Vegas will walk out of Saturday's game with its first win.
- Both head coaches have Super Bowl rings as defensive backs
LAST TIME OUT
ORLANDO -- The Houston Roughnecks defeated the Orlando Guardians 44-16 last week. Houston grabbed a big lead early, withstood a charge from Orlando and then pulled away in the fourth quarter.
The Roughnecks were up 20-0 after one quarter. Jose Borregales got the Guardians on the board with a field goal but Houston responded to make it 26-3.
Two Orlando touchdowns, one late in the second quarter and one early in the third got the Guardinas back in it, 26-16. Both scores came from the arm of Paxton Lynch, including an 81-yarder to Charleston Rambo.
But Orlando couldn't maintain the momentum.
The Roughnecks scored the final 18 points of the game to account for the final score.
Paxton Lynch passed for a season-high 267 yards in the loss for Orlando. The 81-yard touchdown strike to Rambo was the longest play so far this season in the XFL. Terrance Plummer led the Guardians' defense, with seven total tackles.
