ST. JOHN'S, NL - TThe Newfoundland Growlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced today that the club has signed Canadian forward Shaquille Keith for the upcoming 2022 CEBL season.

A six-foot-six small forward from Toronto, Keith is currently suiting up in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A, the top-tier of Hungarian professional basketball, with Atomerőmű SE. In three appearances this season, the 28-year-old is averaging 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in Hungary.

Keith has plenty of previous CEBL experience, having played for four different teams within the league in the past three seasons. The veteran forward split the 2019 season between the Hamilton Honey Badgers and Saskatchewan Rattlers, averaging 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in the two postseason Rattlers victories en route to capturing the title.

Ahead of the 2020 CEBL Summer Series, Keith joined the Ottawa BlackJacks where he appeared in six regular-season games, averaging 10.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists along the way. His strong play at both ends of the court helped the BlackJacks reach the semifinals where they bowed out against the eventual champions, the Edmonton Stingers, 88-75.

Returning to the league for a third straight campaign, Keith signed with the Fraser Valley Bandits in 2021, putting up per-game averages of 12 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 15 appearances for the Bandits.

Prior to turning pro, Keith played one season in the NCAA with the Kilgore Rangers back in 2014.

Keith becomes the fourth player to sign with Newfoundland ahead of the upcoming 2022 season.
