
Growlers Announce 2022 Training Camp Roster

St. John's, NL - The Newfoundland Growlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Wednesday its official training camp roster ahead of the club's inaugural 2022 season.
Fourteen players will take the court at the Memorial University Gymnasium located in the Physical Education building when camp kicks off on Wednesday, May 25, led by Head Coach and General Manager Patrick Ewing Jr., with a pair of additional team members expected to join the group at a later date.
Bringing with them a unique blend of veteran experience and youthful exuberance, the initial Growlers roster has a background within the NBA, NBA G League, NCAA, U SPORTS and further international leagues.
Highlights of the Newfoundland squad include a former NBA player and Chicago Bulls guard (Brandon Sampson), three players with local connections in former St. John's Edge guard (Junior Cadougan), standout Memorial University rookie (Boris Ristanovic), and a St. John's native selected 3rd overall in the CEBL-U SPORTS Draft (Cole Long).
Along with local U SPORTS talents Ristanovic and Long, three additional Canadian university athletes will join the team for the camp including Mason Bourcier, drafted by Newfoundland in the 2nd round of the draft from Trinity Western University, as well as a pair of Ottawa Gee-Gees in guard Gage Sabean and centre Marlon Kordrostami.
Newfoundland opens its season with a pair of weekend home games, beginning first on Friday, June 3 against the defending champion Edmonton Stingers, followed by a clash with the Ottawa BlackJacks, on Sunday, June 5.
