Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (May 26, 2015) - Philadelphia JLB Joe Goosby received two AFL awards, Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week, for his outstanding Week 9 performance in the 71-27 win over the Tampa Bay Storm. This is the first time this season a player has won two weekly League awards in the same week.

"Two well-deserved awards for the best 'jack' linebacker in the league," says Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "He has done a little bit of everything for us for years and this is a perfect example of why we think he's the best in the league. The coaching staff and team is happy for him."

Aside from receiving these two awards from the AFL for Week 9, Goosby swept the postgame individual awards - Russell Athletic Offensive Player, J. Lewis Small Playmaker and Riddell Defensive Player of the Game. This is the first time that has happened in team history since the expanded awards were given. In Week 9's game, Goosby led the defense with 3.0 total tackles, a 6-yard interception for a touchdown, a blocked extra point returned for two-points and two forced fumbles. Filling in as FB, he added three rushing touchdowns for the Soul. Goosby is currently second on the team in tackles with 28.0 for the season.

The Soul take on the Las Vegas Outlaws on Saturday, May 30 at 6 p.m. at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ for the first ever DraftKings Boardwalk Bowl. The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports.
