Golden Baseball League 2006 Tryouts to be Held in Long Beach
Published on November 11, 2005 under Golden Baseball League (GBL) News Release
Pleasanton, CA November 11, 2005: The Golden Baseball League announced today that the league's tryouts for the 2006 season will be held December 13-14, 2005 at Blair Field in Long Beach, California. Blair Field is home to the league's Long Beach Armada.
All of the GBL team managers and coaching staffs will be present over the two day period, evaluating tryout attendees and selecting players to fill open spots on their rosters. Contracts will be offered at the end of the two-day event.
Contracts were offered and signed by sixty-two players of the approximately 400 who attended GBL's league-wide tryouts last year in Fullerton. Of those sixty-two players signed, seven have since had their contracts purchased by Major League Organizations.
"This is the annual opportunity we provide for aspiring professional players wanting to be signed by teams in our league," said Kevin Outcalt, Commissioner of the Golden Baseball League. "Most tryout players have pro or collegiate experience, but many signed last year had been out of baseball due to personal circumstances. And most of those players went on to have outstanding seasons. I'm looking forward to seeing the standouts of this year's tryout begin new professional careers that can lead them to a major league stadium someday."
Players interested in registering for this year's tryout can do so by visiting the Golden Baseball League's website at www.goldenbaseball.com.
