Georgia Force Fall to the Arizona Rattlers 60-27

Duluth, GA (April 29, 2012) - The Georgia Force fell to the the Arizona Rattlers with a final game score of 60-27 in the Arena Football League's Week 8 contest held in The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, GA. The Sunday afternoon game was played in front of a crowd of 2,830 arena football fans.

The Force, led by starting quarterback KevinEakin, showed they could score with ease as well. On the Force first drive, wide receiver LarryShippcaught three balls for 25 yards and a touchdown to tie the score at 7. Following another quick touchdown by Arizona, the Force settled for 26 yardfield-goalby Carlos Martinez to draw with in 3 at the close of the quarter.

The Force defense stepped up to start the second quarter. The defense, lead by Broderick Stewart, forced a 4 and out by the Rattlers.Eakinand the offenseearned a first and goal at the Rattler five. After an offensive passinterferencecall on Mike Johnson in theend-zone, the Force tied the game at 13 onanother Martinezfield-goal. Down a touchdown, the Force turned the ball over on a bizarre play.Eakin'spass attempt to LarryShippended up on top of the wall, where the Rattlers Lance Caldwell would gain possession of it. After a a long completion to Markee White, the Rattlers ended up with first-and-goal from the Force half yard line. The Force defense forced a field-goal by Rattler kicker Chris Gould as the Force found themselves down 23-13. Eakin was then sacked in the end-zone for a Rattler safety. On the ensuing free kick by the Force, Arizona went the length of the field and scored another touchdown with nine seconds left and took a 32-13 halftime lead.

The third quarter was a low scoring affair. The Force received the opening half kickoff and drove the length of the field.Play-makerCJJohnson was onthe receiving end of a four yard touchdown toss fromEakin. Two plays later Forcecornerback, TracyBelton, intercepted a pass from Arizona quarterback NickDavilla. However,Eakingave the ball backthree plays later as he was intercepted in theend-zone. The third quarter ended with a Rattler touchdown on a third andgoal TD reception fromDavillatowide-outMaurice Purify to put the Rattlers up 39-20.

In the fourth quarter, Arizona scored back-to-back touchdowns in under five seconds to start the quarter. The secondof the two, cameonakick-off in which the ball took an awkward bounce off of the net and landed right in the hands of RattlercornerbackLance Caldwell in theend-zone.CJJohnson and crewdid notback down despite being down 33.CJJohnson ran a great post route and was found byEakinon a 14 yard touchdown strike. That would be the only score of the 4thquarter for the Force. Arizona added an additional touchdown and won 60-27.
