Georgia Force Destroy the Sharks 69-41 in Jacksonville

Duluth, GA (March 24, 2012) - I n an exciting showdown against the Jacksonville Sharks, the Georgia Force defeated the ArenaBowl XXIV champions with a final game score of 69-41. In front of a rowdy crowd of Arena Football League fans, the two competitors fought it out in the opening game at Sea Best Field at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. This was the first win against the Sharks for the Force in series history.
The first score of the game did not occur until there was only 3:57 minutes left in first quarter when Force QB RJ Archer made the first of many successful connections to WR Larry Shipp. Force JLB Eric Crosby then returned an interception for 20 yards resulting in a touchdown within the two minute mark of the first quarter. A quick score was made by Georgia for a 45 yard touchdown thrown to Shipp by Archer for the second time in the game. Archer then hooked up with Shipp for the third time in the first half, pulling the Force up to 27-14, which was then followed by their fourth connection of the night, pulling the Force up to 34-14. On the ensuing kickoff, DB Robert Durham forced a fumble with 48 seconds left to play in the first half, which quickly resulted in the fifth touchdown from Archer to Shipp. DB Tracy Belton stopped a Jacksonville scoring drive to end the first half.
Archer found his favorite target, Shipp, for the sixth time in the game, and the Force led 48-20. Archer then ran it in for a five yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, pulling the Force ahead to 54-27. With nine minutes left in the game, the Force managed a 27 point lead due to a touchdown by Archer to WR Brandon McRae. A late interception by Durham enabled the Force to knock off the defending champions at their home opener.
TheForce have a bye next during Week 4. Their next game will be at home against the Philadelphia Soul in the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia on Saturday, April 7th at 7 p.m.
