Gems Sweep Weekly GWL Honors

Portland, Oregon - The Great West League's Madison Bat Company Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by GWL commissioner Ken Wilson, are Jake Holcroft and Zach Scherman of the Klamath Falls Gems.
Holcroft, a 6-1, 170 pound outfielder from Upland, California, went 9-15 (.600) with 5 RBIs and 5 walks. He's now hitting .389 on the season, with 24 RBIs and 9 SBs in just 25 games. Holcroft is headed to the University of Portland this fall.
Scherman, who pitches at Oregon Tech, beat the San Francisco Seals on July 25th, throwing seven shutout innings, allowing only seven hits and striking out five while not allowing a walk. The 6-2, 260 pound Danville, California product is 3-3 this season with a 4.81 ERA.
