San Diego Spirit News Release

SAN DIEGO (April 3, 2000) - San Diego-based Gatorz Eyewear announced today that it will outfit the coaching and on-field operations staff of the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) San Diego Spirit for the upcoming season beginning April 13. Terms of the deal were not released.

"We are proud to be a part of women's professional soccer," said Gatorz Eyewear president & CEO Kerry Lynch. "I believe that the demographics of the soccer market fits well with our product line. We have a great opportunity to reach deep into this market with Shannon MacMillan and members of the San Diego Spirit wearing our sunglasses."

U.S. National Team and San Diego Spirit forward Shannon MacMillan was signed by Gatorz Eyewear in March 2002 to become their first professional woman athlete to promote the product. High-profile racecar drivers Michael Andretti, Sam Hornish, Jr. and Bryan Herta also endorse Gatorz Eyewear.

The San Diego Spirit is a charter member of the WUSA and will kick off their second season on April 13 against the Carolina Courage. The Spirit will play their home matches at the renovated 7,035-seat Torero Stadium on the campus of the University of San Diego.

"As much time as we spend outdoors, we need protection for our eyes. The Gatorz line offers us the best protection with a stylish flair," said Spirit head coach Carlos Juarez. "We are pleased to have a company with the solid reputation that Gatorz possesses, to provide us with high-performance sunglasses for our active lifestyles, both on and off the soccer field."

Gatorz sunglasses are carved from billet aircraft aluminum, then double hinged and tension mounted around 100% UV-blocking polycarbonate lenses. Each indestructible unisex pair is annealed (softened) then heat-treated (hardened) in Gatorz Eyewear's exclusive 22-step handmade-patented process.
