Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (May 26, 2014) - After a tough loss against the undefeated Cleveland Gladiators, the Soul are ready to bounce back this upcoming week. The Soul (5-5) will take on the San Antonio Talons (1-9) at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, June 1 at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcasted on ESPNEWS.

The Week 11 game was tight and went down to the final seconds of play. The game ended with a Gladiators win (54-52) which allowed them to remain undefeated. Soul head coach, Clint Dolezel, will work hard to get his team back on track in time for this week's game against the Talons.

In the Week 12 matchup, the Soul hope their offense will continue to keep the ball moving. Soul receiver, Tiger Jones is coming off of a productive week against Cleveland with three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown. In 2014, he is the second leading receiver on the team with 61 receptions, 823 yards with 20 touchdowns. To compliment Jones, recently acquired receiver Markee White joins the Soul receiving corps. With Los Angeles, the 6'7 receiver had 53 receptions for 523 yards and five touchdowns.

The Talon defense will provide a good test for the Soul offense. The Soul have also been able to continue to gain yards on the ground with the impressive play of Derrick Ross. In Week 11, Ross had 44 rushing yards and two touchdowns. This season he has 288 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns. The Soul will face Talon JLB, Jamar Ransom, who leads his team defensively with 46.0 total tackles and Talon DB, Kelvin Rogers, who has 40.0 total tackles and 11 pass breakups. Ransom and Rogers will be looking to slow down Dan Raudabaugh and the Soul air attack, along with the rushing game of Ross.

Soul defensive backs, Rayshaun Kizer and James Romain have been leading the team on the defensive side of the ball. Kizer has a total of 56.5 tackles, four interceptions, one TD and 16 pass breakups on season. In last weeks game against Cleveland, he led the secondary with nine tackles and two pass breakups. Romain also had a great game with four tackles, a forced fumble and one pass breakup. In the 2014 season, he has 43.0 tackles, four interceptions, one TD and 10 pass breakups. The Soul defensive secondary will be up against a solid receiving corp. this week. Together, Talon receiving duo D.J. Stephens and Robert Quiroga have 103 receptions for 1,267 receptions and 20 touchdowns on the season.

The Soul head back on the road during Week 13 where they will battle it out for the third time this season against the Tampa Bay Storm. This game will take place on Saturday, June 7 at 5 p.m. at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
